5 Things: 1st Meteor Shower of 2013 Kicking Up

Quadrantids meteor shower expected to be at it's peak over night into Friday.

1. First Meteors of 2013: Feels like we've had more than our fair share of meteor showers recently, and the Quadrantids will continue that trend. It is  a little-known meteor shower named after an extinct constellation, and should provide an excellent chance for late-night meteor viewing in the wee hours of Jan. 4. You can get the scoop at NASA.gov.

2. Budget review. The Town Council will hold a public meeting to review the 2013/14 budget, to include the following departments: Fire, Code Enforcement, Communications, Police, Police Detail. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the Matthew Thornton Room (formerly the Town Hall Meeting Room) tonight.

3. Get notifications. There's a new way to keep abreast of what's happening on the Merrimack Patch Facebook page (and other business pages like it). Go to Merrimack Patch on Facebook and hover over the "Liked" button just below the cover photo, you will get a drop down menu with a "Get Notifications" option. If you click that, you will now receive a notification (like you do when friends post certain Facebook content) when we update our page. Facebook algorithms make it so a lot of our content probably doesn't show up in your newsfeed, so if you want to keep well connected with Patch (or the police department, public works, library, etc and so on), this would be a great option for you.

These are open auditions and all roles are available. Teens between the ages of 14 and 18 are needed for "Rumors" and kids ages 6-14 are needed for "The Little Mermaid." Read more about the audition process and what to prepare. Walk in auditions are welcome, but you may also schedule a time slot by emailing Artistic Director Keith Weirich at keithw@peacockplayers.org.
