5 Things: Get the Oct. 5 Football Play of the Week
Weekend weather, a Toyota recall, reading with Teddie and a political laugh break
Here are five things you should know as you start your Friday.
1. ICYMI. Toyota is recalling 7.5 million cars worldwide – 2.5 million of them in the U.S. – because of a faulty door switch that could result in car fires. Get more information on the models and model years that were recalled
2. No Friday night lights. But Merrimack High School's football team will play a game at Pembroke on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Go cheer on the team as they search for their first win of the season. And in the mean time, check out the play of the week from the teams last game, produced by Group Effort Productions.

3. PAWS to Read. Children ages 4+, (as well as teens, adults and everyone in between!) who would like to practice their reading skills can read to *Teddie, a certified Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. We will have reading materials available, but you are welcome to bring your favorite choice. Need to practice reading aloud in a foreign language? That's fine too! To reserve a 15 minute time slot, register online or call the Children's Room at 424-5021. Use an adult Merrimack Library card to register. *Teddie will be accompanied by his companion, Melanie Paul, a Delta Society R.E.A.D. volunteer. To learn more about the R.E.A.D. program, visit the Reading Education Assistance Dog website
4. Political laugh break. There's no doubt about it, the 2012 presidential race has been a heated one. So take a laugh break with a website that pokes fun at all the candidates (and even the debate moderators.) Bad Lip Reading, which takes videos and changes the words being said based on what it looks like is being said, recently posted its take on the presidential debate from last week. Check out "Eye of the Sparrow" and definitely take a look through the other videos when you have a chance. I still think my all-time favorite is Ron Paul's BLR created back around the time of the NH Primary.
