5 Things: Keep Up With Wire Road Bridge Project

Start off the second day of 2013 with five things you need to know.

Happy New Year, Merrimack! This is your first Patch Facts column of 2013. There are 364 days left in the year.

1. Soccer tryouts. Spring traveling soccer tryouts for kids who didn't play in the fall are scheduled for Thursday at the New Hampshire Dome, 50 Emerson Road, Milford. Tryouts for U-11 and younger is 6-7 p.m.; U-12 and older is 7-8 p.m. Players should come with is/her own ball, shin guards, cleats, indoor shoes (or sneakers) and water. Parents must contact the Travel Soccer Director at director@merrimacksoccerclub.org to RSVP for a tryout. When contacting include: player name and date of birth, parent name, phone number and email.For more information on the club visit: www.merrimacksoccerclub.org.

2. Teen Writer's Group. Are you a teen who likes to write and listen to stories? Do you have a teen who fits that description? Would you or they like to learn about story craft, share your poetry, or just have fun using your imagination? Then join the Merrimack Public Library's Teen Writers Group. Come ready to read or just stop in to relax and listen. The group meets on the first Thursday of the month in the Klumpp Meeting Room and on the third Thursday of the month at the table in the Teen Area on the main level. This group is open to Merrimack residents in grades 6-12. Registration is helpful for planning purposes, but not required.

3. Keep up-to-date on Wire Road bridge project. Do you travel Wire Road between Merrimack and Bedford? Keep up with the replacement being made to the Wire Road bridge by following the Merrimack Department of Public Works on Facebook.

4. MHS sports matchup. There are two high school sports games on the schedule today. The varsity girls basketball team will play at Londonderry at 7 p.m. and the varsisty hockey team will play Bow at home.

5. Weather watch. Cold and windy, that's what the National Weather Service says is on tap for today. Increasing clouds with a high near 28 and wind gusts up to 25 mph during the day. Tonight's low is 5 degrees with wind continuing with gusts up to 23 mph.
