5 Things: Kindergarten Registration Starts Today

Parents can pick up registration packets until Friday.

1. Kindergarten registration. Merrimack School District begin kindergarten enrollment today. The registration process begins with parents picking up registration packets at their neighborhood school from Tuesday, Jan. 8 through Friday, Jan. 11, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Registration materials for kindergarten and grade one students will be returned to their respective school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22. 2. High school sports action. The boys and girls basketball teams hit the courts today with the girls at Dover and the Dover boys at MHS.

  • 5:30 p.m.: Girls Junior Varsity Basketball @ Dover Middle/High School
  • 5:30 p.m.: Boys Junior Varsity Basketball vs. Dover Middle/High School
  • 6:30 p.m.: Girls Varsity Basketball @ Dover Middle/High School
  • 7 p.m.: Boys Varsity Basketball vs. Dover Middle/High School

3. Winter snow party. Join the Merrimack Public Library for some winter fun - including stories, crafts and a snowball fight! For ages 3-6; register using a Merrimack Library. The party will run from 1:30-2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8. Snow date for this event is Jan. 22.

4. Mark your calendar. Horseshoe Fish and Game Club will hold its annual Fishing Derby, Saturday, Jan. 26 at 44 Greens Pond Road, from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Breakfast will be served before the derby begins at 6 a.m. Recommended donations, $10/adults, $5/ages 7-15, ages 6 and younger are free. 5. Weather Watch. Today's temperatures in the 40s will contribute to a January thaw that is expected to stretch through the weekend.  The National Weather Service calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 43. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low of 22.
