5 Things: Nominate a Person of the Year

Send nominations to Editor Carolyn Dube by Dec. 26.

1. Book Voyages. Join the Merrimack Public Library for a new monthly event for 1st and 2nd graders! Stop by on the third Thursday of every month (from October through April) and discover great books to read on your own. This Thursday, Book Voyages meets a half hour later than usual, from 4:30-5:15 p.m. There will be lots of books to take home too! This event is open to Merrimack children enrolled in first and second grade. Use an adult Merrimack Library card to register.

2. Job Opening. Center Stage Pole Dance & Fitness owner Donna Moison posted on Facebook yesterday that she is looking for an advance instructor for pole dance fitness. Send your resume to donna@cspdf.com.

3. Nominate a person of the year. We are looking to recognize a Merrimack resident as the person of the year in town. Do you know someone who is always looking out for others? Or someone who is doing amazing things in the schools, in the business community or otherwise? Send your nominations with an explanation of why you think that person deserves to be person of the year and we will select a winner by the end of 2012, and write a profile about that person in the first week of 2013. Send nominations to carolyn.dube@patch.com by Dec. 26.

4. Just because it's fun. Having a winter wedding this year? Check out these holiday inspired wedding gowns. What do you think? Over the top? Perfect for a winter wedding? I, for one, could never conceive of wearing a red wedding dress.

5. Weather watch. Today's forecast looks a little drier, but a good deal windier. The National Weather Service calls for mostly cloudy skies with a high near 42 and a northwest wind 8 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.
