5 Things: Sandy is Out, Rain and Wind Will Linger
Today starts clean up from Monday's storm.

The worst of Hurricane Sandy is over, but we still have wind and rain through the end of the week. Here are five things you should know today as you start clean up from Hurricane Sandy today.
1. Weather watch. The worst of Sandy has passed us, but the rain and some wind will linger this week. Today calls for showers, mainly after 7 a.m. Patchy fog before 11 a.m. High near 69. Southeast wind 9 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Tonight, showers, mainly before 3 a.m. Patchy fog between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., then Patchy fog after 10 p.m. Low around 52. East wind 8 to 10 mph.
2. No school today. School in Merrimack are closed for today. This includes all Merrimack Public Schools, Merrimack PTA Kindergarten/Preschool, South Merrimack Christian Academy and students at the Academy for Science and Design in Nashu.

3. Nathaniel Hawthorne appearance cancelled. Tonight's One Book, One Town performance at the Merrimack Public Library, Nathaniel Hawthorne: The Haunted Mind, has been cancelled. No word on if or when it may be rescheduled.
4. Send your storm photos. Now that the winds have died down and the rain (hopefully) is no longer coming down in sheets, it's time to survey the damage that has been left behind. I will be out taking photos today, and I invite you to post your own to our storm gallery. You can also text them to 290-4045 or email them to carolyn.dube@patch.com if you still don't have power. And remember, while you are cleaning up, do not touch any wires or trees/branches on wires. Even if they are down, power could be restored at any time.

5. No change on Trick-or-Treat, as yet. At this writing, trick-or-treat is still on for Wednesday night from 6-8 p.m. If that changes, we will let you know just as soon as we do. In the meantime, brush up on some trick-or-treat safety tips.
