5 Things: Send Supplies to Sandy Victims

Merrimack couple collecting supplies for hurricane relief and it's time to start thinking about the holidays.

Here are five things you should know as you start your Thursday.

1. Help Hurricane Sandy victims. A Merrimack couple with strong ties to New York is looking for people who want to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy. They rented a UHaul and are collecting donations of various supplies and other needed items, like batteries, blankets, jackets, hats, gloves, toiletries, water and more. They will have the UHaul in the parking lot of Pizzeria Uno (593 Amherst street (Route 101A) in Nashua) tonight, Nov. 8, from 5:30-8 p.m. For more information and how you can help if you can't make it to the drop off, click here.

2. Shop and play. Start your holiday shopping early, or finish it in one night at a vendor fair at Nuthin' But Good Times (746 Daniel Webster Highway, Merrimack). Head out for some great holiday ideas for everyone on your list and let the kids play while you shop! Regular childs admission applies but adults are free. Each vendor will have a prize in the raffle; all raffle proceeds will benefit Merrimack Friend & Families. Holiday shopping night runs from 4-8 p.m.

3. Winter parking ban. With the first snowfall in New Hampshire, now is as good a time as any to remind readers that Nov. 15 is the first day of Merrimack's winter parking ban. The winter parking ban runs from Nov. 15-April 15 and means that cars must be parked off the street from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. during snow emergencies declared by the town. Get more information here.

4. Homemade pies. The Merrimack Lioness Club is again taking orders for homemade freshly-baked pies for Thanksgiving.  Pumpkin and apple pies are $13, pecan are $15. Orders must be placed by Nov. 12. Call Donna at 424-3311. Pie pickup date is Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Proceeds to benefit the Merrimack Food Pantries.
