5 Things: Winter Warm Up Brings Back 'Stink Bugs'

You may have started seeing these pests around again with warmer days, but fear not, they do no damage.

1. They're baaaack. The recent warm weather has brought about a noticeable return of our Western Conifer Seed Bug friends, although some say they noticed the little buggers never left. If you weren't reading Patch back in the fall, or if you just missed the story, here's a piece about what these “stink bugs” are, where they came from and how you should dispose of them if you choose to do so.

2. Job opening. Salon Belle Vie posted on their Facebook page on Tuesday that they are looking for a hair stylist to rent a booth. “We are located in Pennichuck Square in Merrimack. 3. School Budget hearing. The Merrimack School Board will hold a hearing tonight to discuss the budgets for the elementary schools, upper elementary and middle schools and the maintenance budget. The meeting is at the Merrimack High School cafeteria and begins at 7 p.m.

4. High school sports action. Here's what's on the schedule for Jan. 9.

  • 3 p.m.: Cross Country Ski Team, Carter Hill Orchard, Concord, Classic ski race.
  • 4 p.m.: Boys track and field, Wildcat Relays
  • 4 p.m.: Hockey vs. Pelham at West Side Arena
  • 6 p.m.: Wrestling vs. Hollis-Brookline High School

5. Weather watch. Warmer weather continues today with mostly sunny skies and a high near 43. Light wind in the day will give way to breezier skies at night with a west wind varying between 9 and 13 mph. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 28.
