Allison Latham Nominated to Attend Naval Academy

U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte announced her service academies nominations on Thursday,

A Merrimack High School student is among the 39 New Hampshire students who have been nominated to attend one of the nation's service academies in 2013.

Allison Latham, an MHS senior, was nominated by U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte to attend the U.S. Naval Academy.

"It's an honor to nominate outstanding young people to be considered for admission to our nation's service academies," Ayotte said in a statement. "These young men and women have excelled inside and outside the classroom while making valuable contributions to their local communities. They represent some of the very best of New Hampshire and I expect great things from them in the future."

To be considered for appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by a Member of Congress or other authorized nominating source.  Sen. Ayotte hosted a reception in honor of the nominees on Jan. 3 at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord.
