Annual Merrimack Winter Carnival Cancelled
Wasserman Park event on Feb. 20, cancelled due to mild weather.

MERRIMACK, NH – The Annual Winter Carnival at Wasserman Park scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016 has been cancelled, ”unfortunately, due to the unseasonable mild weather and the rollercoaster of highs and lows in temperature this winter season,” according to a press statement from Matt Casparius of the Merrimack Parks & Recreation Department.
The ice on Lake Naticook is not stable enough for the Ice Derby event and with the upcoming warming temperatures and rain forecasted on Saturday, there may not be enough snow to continue with other winter activities during the Winter Carnival such as snowmobile rides, snowman making, cardboard box sledding contest and much more, he noted.
“We hope to have consistently cold winter weather and are looking forward to seeing everyone next year,” he said. “Thank you to all the groups who were scheduled to participate at the Winter Carnival and for the Merrimack community for your understanding regarding this cancellation.”
