Another Traffic Detour on Turkey Hill Road

Roadwork will force detour Tuesday and Wednesday.

Turkey Hill Road may be the most-detoured road of the summer between impromptu closures for emergencies and summer roadwork.

Merrimack Police sent out a Nixle alert on Monday letting residents know there will be a detour beginning Tuesday, Aug. 13, that will prohibit through-traffic between Amherst Road and Meetinghouse Road beginning at 7 a.m. This is to accommodate road resurfacing.

According to the Department of Public Works' Facebook page, the detour will also be in place Wednesday, Aug. 14, also beginning at 7 a.m.

In addition to another roadwork closure recently, sections of Turkey Hill Road has been closed twice for accidents with telephone poles, once near the intersection with McQuestion Road and then again just three days later near the intersection with Beacon Drive and Pilgrim Ave.

On Friday, Aug. 9, the road was closed from W. Chamberlin Road to Bancroft Street for flooding issues following several hours of heavy rain. The flooding was caused by the fact that the road wasn't draining at it's typical pace because of the ongoing construction.

Please plan accordingly if you use Turkey Hill Road in your daily travels.
