Car Splits Utility Pole; Driver Flees On Foot From Crash
Crews are working to repair a utility pole on D.W. Highway in Merrimack that was broken in a car crash; power remains on at post time.
MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack fire, and police responded to a report of a car crashing into a utility pole on the Daniel Webster Highway near Concord Road on Saturday.
Responding units arrived on the scene at about 7 a.m. and found a single-vehicle, heavily damaged, and a broken utility pole. Power lines from the pole were still attached and energized, giving limited access to the vehicle.
Police determined the driver of the car fled the scene on foot and began to search the area. The driver has not been located at post time but officers continue to follow up on leads of where the driver might be.

Eversource and Consolidated Communications arrived at the scene and will begin repairs that will likely take most of the day. At the time of the accident power remained on in the area, but it is unclear if there will be a loss of power during the repair.
Police urged to use caution in the area of the accident, the roadway remains open as crews work on repairs.
