Cell Tower Plan on Joppa Road Before Zoning Board Wednesday

New Cingular Wireless PCS wants a special exception to build a telecommunication tower in residential and aquifer conservation districts.

A proposal for the construction of a cell tower at 121 Joppa Road goes before the Merrimack Zoning Board of Adjustment on Wednesday, June 25.

The petitioner – New Cingular Wireless PCS LLC – seeks a special exception of the zoning ordinance to allow construction of the telecommunication tower in the residential and aquifer conservation districts. Alan and Erin Walsh are listed as property owners.

The petition was originally on the board's agenda for May 28, but not every abutter was notified in time for that meeting.

Late last month, Andrew Kosko created an online petition to oppose the proposed construction of a cell tower at that location.

The Merrimack Zoning Board of Adjustment is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
