A press release indicates this is done daily through directed patrols, and though Friday is an enhanced effort, "officers work hard to maintain a safe travelling environment for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists" on a daily basis.

Friday’s efforts will focus on traffic light, speed and distracted driving violations and enforcement. As always drive safely, and help keep Merrimack’s roads and streets safe.
