
Books for bucks. If you are heading to Hannaford in Nashua this week, make sure to take a swing by the book bin. The donated books are sold for 50 cents for a soft cover book and $1 for a hard cover book each week for a different charity. This week, money collected will go to the Humane Society for Greater Nashua. Don't miss a chance to help a great organization and bring a book or two home with you.
Low-flying aircraft. Police are warning residents to expect low-flying helicopters. "Weather permitting, PSNH Transmission has scheduled Infrared Air Patrols across the State of New Hampshire for all of this week, Aug. 12-16. PSNH has contracted with vendors JBI Helicopter and Hot Shots. An infrared camera is used to look for "hot spots" on PSNH's transmission lines. Your help notifying people with horses and livestock will be particularly appreciated!
Goal met! Merrimack Public Library announced on Facebook that even with less than half of more than 500 summer reading logs submitted, the goal of 4,000 hour spent reading this summer was met as of Friday. With more reading logs coming in daily, its possible this summer's readers could hit 5,000 hours. Turn in your logs at the Merrimack Public Library knowing that the Friends of the Merrimack Library will make good on it's promised donation of $450 to the High Hopes Foundation.

Wet weather. We've got a pretty nice-looking week on tap weather-wise, with today being the exception. According to the National Weather Service, today is going to be rainy, rainy, rainy. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the morning, followed by more rain and likely a thunderstorm after 1 p.m. Patchy fog before 10 a.m. and a high near 77. Tonight, showers and thunderstorms likely before midnight, then a slight chance of showers between midnight and 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
