Fire, Rescue Respond to Accident With Ejection on Turnpike
Merrimack Fire and Rescue Department incident log for April 5-7.

Friday April 5, 2013
2:21 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to the Merrimack Police Department to check a subject in custody.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an adult male with psychiatric issues. The patient was treated and transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
2:37 p.m. Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Daniel Webster Highway for an elderly female who had fainted.

Ambulance 2 and Engine 1 responded and found an elderly female with cardiac issues. The patient was treated and transported to St. Joseph Hospital.
5:29 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to the Shaw’s Supermarket, Daniel Webster Highway, for an adult male with chest pain.

Ambulance 1 and Engine 1 responded and found an adult male with cardiac issues. The patient was treated and transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
8:42 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Donovan Court for an adult female who had fallen.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an adult female needing a lift assist. The patient was lifted and assisted to her bed. No further medical attention was required.

1:04 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to Thomas More College for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 1and 2 responded and found a fire alarm activation in a dormitory. The alarm was determined to be false due to a detector malfunction. The fire alarm was reset and students were allowed to re-occupy the building.
11:19 a.m.: Station 2 was dispatched to a single family residence on Erik Street for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 2 responded and found no cause for the alarm. The alarm had reset before the arrival of the engine.
11:38 a.m.: Engine 2 was dispatched to Starbucks Coffee Shop for a reported bark mulch fire.
Engine 2 responded and extinguished a bark mulch fire. The cause was determined to be due to a carelessly discarded cigarette.
5:46 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Donovan Court for a teenaged female who had fallen from a tree.
Ambulance 1 and Engine 1 responded and found an teenaged female with injuries from a fall from a tree. The patient was treated and transported to St. Joseph Hospital.
9:09 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to the FE Everett Turnpike Northbound between exits 11 and the Merrill’s Marauder bridge for a single car motor vehicle accident with ejection of an unresponsive male victim.
Engine 1 and Ambulance responded and found a single car overturned and a single adult male patient who had been ejected from the vehicle with possible severe injuries. Due to the nature of the injury a trauma team activation was requested at Elliot Hospital and DHART medical flight was put on standby. It was determined that the most appropriate transport would be by ambulance. The patient was treated and transported to the Elliot Hospital.
10:13 p.m. Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Camp Sargent Road for a adult male who had fallen and was bleeding from the head.
Ambulance 2 and Engine 2 responded and found an adult male with injuries from a fall. The patient was treated and transported to St. Joseph Hospital.

3:27 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Edgewood Drive for an adult female with a severe headache.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an adult female with a severe headache. The patient was treated and transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.
7:36 a.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Highland Green for an elderly female who had fallen.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an elderly female needing a lift assist. The patient was lifted and assisted to her wheelchair No further medical attention was required.
11:45 a.m. Station 2 was dispatched to a single family residence on Fuller Mill Road for an illegal outside burn.
Engine 2 responded and found an illegal outside bonfire. The homeowner was informed of the proper way to obtain a burning permit, and that no outside burning was being allowed due to the dry weather conditions. The homeowner extinguished the fire.
1:21 p.m.: Engine 2 was dispatched mutual aid to Library Street in Hudso for a multi-alarm building fire.
Engine 2 responded and provided coverage at Hudson Station 1. Engine 2 returned to Merrimack at 3:42 p.m.
3:26 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to D.R. Power Equipment for a fire alarm activation.
Engine 1 and 3 responded and found a fire alarm activation. The alarm was determined to be false due to a detector malfunction. The fire alarm was reset and a property representative was notified.
3:29 p.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to a multi-family residence on Coventry Court for a fire alarm activation.
Ambulance 1 responded as all other apparatus was committed to other calls. Upon arrival it was determined to be a false alarm due to a malfunctioning smoke detector. The occupant was assisted in cleaning the detector and changing the battery.
5:21 p.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to a single family residence on Christina Road for an adult female having a panic attack.
Ambulance 1 and Engine 2 responded and found an adult female with anxiety. The patient was in police custody, and an officer accompanied the ambulance to St. Joseph Hospital.
5:41 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Bean Road for a tree that had fallen.
Engine 1 responded and found a tree had fallen on a car and a box truck. There was damage to each vehicle, but no damage to the home
5:48 p.m.: Station 1 and 2 were dispatched to the vicinity of 506 Boston Post Road for a reported motor vehicle accident.
Ambulance 2 and Engine 2 responded and found a pickup truck that had struck several roadside boulders. An adult female was assessed and refused transport.
6:29 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Essex Green Drive to assist the occupant with a smoke detector.
Engine 1 responded and found the resident had started a fire in a fireplace without opening the flue and had filled the home with smoke. Fire personnel opened the flue and ventilated the home.
11:32 p.m.: Station 1 was dispatched to a single family residence on Back River Road for an elderly male with a catheter problem.
Ambulance 1 responded and found an elderly male with bleeding from a catheter problem. The patient was treated and transported to St. Joseph Hospital.
