FIRST To Hold Lego League Competition This Weekend

Morning news and notes for Friday, Nov. 15.

Helpful tips. Ever wonder what's safe to put down the drain or flush down the toilet and what isn't? There's a helpful list on the Merrimack town website. Things like diapers, cooking oil or grease and household hazardous materials to name a few. Get the full list here.

Mindstorms Mayhem. Merrimack High School's FIRST Robotics Competition Team is hosting a FIRST Lego League Regional Qualifying Tournament on Nov. 16th from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. The tournament is a qualifier for all New Hampshire teams, and about 18 will be attending. The teams compete in this year's FLL challenge Nature's Fury, using Lego Mindstorms robots and teamwork to complete challenges on the game table. The teams also present a project and complete a task to demonstrate their core values. This event is open to the public, and there will concessions for sale. All proceeds go to fund the Merrimack High School FIRST Robotics team.

Insurance info session. Visit the Amherst Town Library on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. for an informational session about enrolling for health care in the new Health Insurance Marketplace. Just about everyone has questions about how the changes will affect them personally, whether they have health insurance, don't have health insurance, or are covered by Medicare. This educational session, led by an AARP Health Marketplace educator, will provide an overview of the Health Insurance Marketplace: who is eligible, how they enroll, tax credits, and options for those with limited incomes. Although the presenter Sarah Kelsea is connected to AARP, this program is not limited to seniors, but is open to all who need to learn the details of the new health insurance system.
