Guagliumi Tops Markwell in School Board Race

Election results: Cinda Guagliumi wins seat on the Merrimack School Board.

Cinda Guagliumi won election to the Merrimack School Board on April 8, defeating incumbent George Markwell for a three-year term.

The vote tally after the polls closed Tuesday, according to the Merrimack School District:

Guagliumi: 881

Markwell: 820

Merrimack voters adopted the district's operating budget of $68,682,241 by a wider margin, 1,448 to 432.

Article 4, a petition article proposing a repeal of 2006 school budget committee establishment language, failed with 1,250 opposing it and 632 supporting the change.

Annual meeting elected four to the school budget committee: Chuck Mower, Kevin Bobbitt, John Hanson and Shelly Jacoby.

Laurie Rothhaus and Finlay Rothhaus were elected to serve two seats on the Planning and Building Committee.
