Hooksett I-93 Welcome Centers to be Taken Over by Common Man
Five things you should know as you start your day.

Spooky stories. Children ages 8-12 and a caregiver are invited to a spooky stories gathering at the Turkey Hill Cemetery on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Share some spooky stories by sunset, and take a tour of this historic cemetery with some of Merrimack's oldest graves. Costumes are welcome, as well as a small chair or blanket to sit on. Rain Date TBA.
ICYMI. This video (love or hate Katy Perry) is bound to make your heart do a little flip. The patients, staff, doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital at Darmouth posted this lipsynch parody of Perry's hit "Roar" earlier this week. It's designed to show people the strength these kids have, even in the face of very serious illness. Make sure you go check out this video.
Mega-Millions new improvements. If you play the Mega Millions lottery occasionally, or regularly, you chances of winning may have just gotten higher. The pick-six style lottery was just recreated to give jackpots higher starting values – from $12 million to $15 million, to increase secondary prizes and to change the odds of winning from 1:40 to 1:15, among others. Read about all the changes here.
Rest stop revamp. Thursday, Oct. 24 is ground-breaking day at Hooksett Welcome Center on 1-93 north. A public-private partnership has been formed to renovate the Welcome Centers on each side of the highway to include concessions, fuel sales, visitors center and two state-run liquor stores. With the exception of the liquor stores, the Welcome Centers will be designed, built and run by the Common Man Family of restaurants, according to the 35-year agreement. Read more about the proposal here. The ground breaking ceremony will be at the northbound rest area at 10:30 a.m.
Weather watch. The crisp fall weather has arrived. According to today's forecast, we should expect mostly cloudy skies, with a high near 52. Tonight will be cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 30.
