Job Hunt: Marketing and Events Coordinator

Merrimack Chamber of Commerce is looking for someone to help lead their programs.

The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce annouced this week that it's looking for a marketing and events coordinator. This person would work under the direction of the executive director and is responsible for coordinating all Chamber events to include (but not limited to) AM and PM Networking events, its monthly Lunch ‘n Learn series, ribbon-cuttings, groundbreakings, and grand openings.  In addition, work as staff support on the annual golf tournament and scholarship fundraiser and recognition banquet.  The marketing and events coordinator also coordinates the advertising, social networking, and other marketing campaigns to promote the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce and our member businesses, as well as assists with the day-to-day administration and operations of the Merrimack Chamber and its activities, plus other duties as assigned.

The position is part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) and involves a flexible work schedule that may include some evenings during events.  There is potential for more or full-time hours in the near future.

Candidates should have a familiarity and understanding of the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce’s work and mission, and demonstrate work experience that includes the coordination and oversight of marketing campaigns, communication plans, and promotional/fundraising events. Initiative, along with an ability to troubleshoot and work independently is essential. The ideal candidate will also have the following experiences and/or skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with social networking sites, newsletters, and/or other public relations vehicles.
  • A polished and professional appearance with a friendly and welcoming demeanor
  • A strong desire to help businesses grow and to connect with each other
  • Familiarity with New Hampshire businesses, venues, and organizations.
  • High proficiency in MS Office programs. In addition, knowledge or understanding of Adobe Photoshop Elements, Constant Contact, and Wordpress, is not required but helpful. Will train the right candidate.
  • Organized, efficient, detail-oriented and successful at meeting deadlines.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects/events at one time.
  • Passion for events, community-building, promotions and out-of-the box thinking.
