School board incumbents applauded for work ethic, attention to detail and non-confrontational styles.

To the Editor:

Last November with a presidential election at stake, Merrimack voters faced long lines at the polls. Unfortunately on April 9, with our upcoming municipal elections, many of these same voters will choose to stay home even though their votes will have a greater impact right here in Merrimack.

There is a race on the ballot for School Board with three candidates vying for two seats. We shall be voting to re-elect both Shannon Barnes and Chris Ortega. During the past three years we have been impressed with their strong work ethic, attention to detail, and non-confrontational styles.  We see both Shannon and Chris as advocating for best educational practices, while at the same time looking out for the taxpayers of our community.

During the mid-90s our town was ridiculed, not only here in New Hampshire, but in the nation due to the emphasis upon social issues that some board members chose to have on their agenda. Neither Shannon nor Chris will allow us to revert back to those dark days.

Please join us in voting for Shannon Barnes and Chris Ortega on Tuesday, April 9 to keep them working for our children, grandchildren and taxpayers of Merrimack.
