Man Charged With Negligent Driving, Disobeying Officer

Deering man stopped for driving erratically in 'snow-covered parking lot.'

Police arrested a Deering man on Thursday night on a a handful of charges after they stopped him for driving erratically in a "snow-covered parking lot" on Route 101A.

Joseph Blumenthal, 25, of 86 Blueberry Hill Road, Deering, was charged with negligent driving, disobeying a police officer, operating after suspension a second offense and on an active electronic bench warrant.

Police say when they stopped Blumentahl at 10:22 on Dec. 27, he was unable to produce a license or registration. When asked for his name, Blumenthal allegedly refused to supply it. Police arrested him for negligent driving and disobeying a police officer during this interaction.

Once at the Merrimack Police Department, it was learned that Blumenthal's license had been suspended and that there was an active bench warrant out of Nashua for a failure to pay the fine from his previous operating after suspension conviction.

Blumenthal was held at Hillsborough Country Correctional Facility overnight and arraigned on Friday.
