A Merrimack police officer serving paperwork to 22 Rail Road Ave. ended up charging the homeowner with possession of marijuana May 27. Police said James McBride, 60, was charged, released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail, and has a June 12 court date. The officer was speaking with McBride when the officer observed drug use and investigated further, according to police.

Merrimack police said an officer observed the alleged drug use while serving paperwork.
