Man Charged with Simple Assault, Stalking, Criminal Trespass

Merrimack Police arrested a Hollis man on a handful of domestic-related charges after an investigation into complaints from a woman who said she was assaulted in her home and harassed at her workplace.
Police on Saturday arrested Robert Kempton, 55, of 38 Main St., Hollis, at the Hollis Police Station on charges of domestic-related simple assault, stalking and criminal trespass
The victim alleges that Kempton assaulted her at her home and visited her workplace several times, despite being warned to stay away.

When police were called to arrest Kempton, he fled, and a 12-hour be on the lookout order was put into place. The 12-hour rule allows arrests for domestic assault without a warrant if the arrest is made within 12 hours of the incident.
Kempton was located at his residence and taken into custody by the Hollis Police. He was later transported by Merrimack Police to their station for processing. Kempton was released on $3,000 personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment in Merrimack's district court today, Jan. 28.
