Man Charged With Stealing ID to Open Credit Cards

The following information was provided by Merrimack Police. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Massachusetts man turned himself in to Merrimack Police on Tuesday on charges that he opened several credit cards in another man's name and was using a Merrimack P.O. Box to receive them.

Police charged Vincent Mastroianni, 55, of 8 Colonial Dr., Billerica, Mass., with one count of identity theft and five counts of fraudulent use of a credit card. 

Police say they were contacted Sept. 18 by a the victim who said the cards had been opened in his named and sent to a Merrimack mailbox. 

Police were able to determine the box was rented by Mastroianni and after a lengthy investigation, they also were able to determine Mastroianni was the person who applied for the cards, collected them from the mailbox and used them at a Merrimack business.      


Based on this information, police sought a warrant for his arrest.

Mastroianni was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear on Dec. 10, for his arraignment in Merrimack district court.
