Man Reaches Plea Deal in Attempted Murder Case

Matthew Bobola will serve prison time as part of deal

A Merrimack man will not go to trial on attempted murder charges after negotiating a plea deal that will send him to jail for five to 13 years, according to a story in the Nashua Telegraph.

Matthew Bobola, 45, was indicted in May on attempted murder charges stemming from an attack he made on a family member on Jan. 1.

Bobola, who has been incarcerated in Valley Street Jail since his arrest on Jan. 1, is accused of trying to kill a family member by putting zip ties around her neck and trying to strangle her, a substantial step toward the act of killing someone, a Hillsborough County grand jury said.

But on Monday, Bobola agreed to plead guilty to second-degree and attempted second-degree assault and serve 5-13 years in prison. He will also serve four concurrent year-long jail sentences for simple assault and criminal threatening charges, according to the Telegraph. Attempted murder and kidnapping charges were dropped as part of the deal.
