Maps Show Where Crime is Happening in Merrimack

Here are five things you should know as you start your Thursday.

1. Call mapping complete. Merrimack Police each month map reportable accidents, burglaries, thefts from vehicles, accidents, summonses and tickets, criminal mischief/vandalism and bear sightings, so residents of Merrimack can see where crime is happening around town. Mapping for April is complete. Get in the know if and see where Merrimack Police are kept busiest. Visit the Merrimack Police page on the Town website to see the maps.

2. ICYMI. Several people have asked in recent days what the deal has been with the signs at the old Zyla's and the cars there. The lot is being used as a satellite parking location for the construction of the Kingdom Hall on Wire Road. Read more about the construction project that was approved early last year.

3. Register for day camp. The Parks and Recreation Department is readying itself for summer camp with weekly sessions from June 24 through Aug. 15.  Naticook Day Camp is ACA accredited, offers daily Red-Cross swimming lessons, daily lunch, and a variety of activities. Camp is open to children ages 5 through 14. The weekly rate for Merrimack residents is $185, non-residents is $237. Visit the town website or call the Parks and Recreation Department at 882-1046 for more information.

4. Free Comic Book Day. Comic book lovers of all ages are invited to drop by the library for a free comic book, and activities celebrating comics, manga and cartooning between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 4. Kids and teens who come dressed as a favorite comic or manga character will get candy and an extra favor to take home. Free Comic Book Day is a nationwide celebration. Special thanks to event partner, Jetpack Comics in Rochester for supplying the comics!

5. Weather watch. The streak of warm sunny days continues. This also means the fire danger in New Hampshire remains very high. Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. Thursday Night Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 40.
