Merrimack Crime Roundup: Aug. 5-Aug. 22

Arrests relating to felony identity theft and impaired driving were among those reported in Merrimack this month.

MERRIMACK, NH — The following crime-related incidents were reported by the Merrimack Police Department for the time period starting Aug. 6. Arrests do not indicate guilt. The names of any minors have been omitted.

Monday, Aug. 5 — Sadie Newcomb, 29, of Manchester, and Roger O'Connor Jr., were arrested after being stopped by police because a vehicle Newcomb was driving did not have a front license plate. Newcomb was charged with operating while being certified as a habitual offender, circumventing an alcohol interlock device and transporting drugs. O'Connor was charged with possession of a controlled drug.

Tuesday, Aug. 6 — Tammy Leonard, 41, was charged with domestic violence simple assault. Police say she was arrested in connection with a physical altercation in a Merrimack parking lot. Leonard is charged with punching someone in the face.

Steven Symanski, 44, was charged with domestic violence simple assault. Police say he grabbed someone by the neck during an altercation in a parking lot of a Merrimack business.

Saturday, Aug. 10 — Nicholas McMaster, 26, of Nashua, was charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest. Police say he was stopped by police after driving 104 miles per hour on the Everett Turnpike. He was arrested after a brief struggle with police, according to police.

Sunday, Aug. 11 — Yancarlo Brito, 28, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, was charged with aggravated operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor and two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor. Police say he was stopped by police after driving erratically on Daniel Webster Highway. He appeared impaired to police during the stop, police say.

Tuesday, Aug. 13 — Jefferson Searfoss, 50, of Plymouth, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor. Police say he was arrested after being stopped by an officer while driving on Daniel Webster Highway. The officer noticed signs of impairment, according to police.

Thursday, Aug. 15 — Cathryn Elizabeth Smith, 38, of Sykesville, Maryland, was charged with felony identity fraud. Police say she was arrested after a woman had reported her wallet being stolen in Merrimack. On June 25, that woman noticed fraudulent activity on her account, in which someone tried to use her identity to make deposit and then immediate withdrawal. Police's review of surveillance footage led to Smith becoming a suspect, police say.

Saturday, Aug. 17 — Dianna Brooks, 23, of Auburn, was charged with operating a vehicle after suspension of her driver's license and car registration. Police say she was charged after being stopped by police on Daniel Webster Highway.

Sunday, Aug. 18 — Amanda Evensen, 34, was charged with domestic violence simple assault. Police say she assaulted a family member.

Tuesday, Aug. 20 — Justin L. Farinato, 38, of Peabody, Massachusetts, was charged with Class B misdemeanor criminal trespass. Police say he was arrested by the Salem police before Merrimack police took custody of him. His arrest was in connection with a Dec. 24 incident in which he violated a no-trespass order at Home Depot in Merrimack.

Thursday, Aug. 22 — Mariana Martins, 18, of Nashua, was charged with reckless driving and failure to have the required license. Police say she was arrested after an officer stopped a vehicle she was driving at 80 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour speed zone on Continental Boulevard. Martins never had a driver's license, according to the Merrimack police.

Mark Brown, 48, of Merrimack, was charged with operating under the influence of liquor. Police say he was arrested after he came to the Merrimack police station to pick up someone who had been arrested, and an officer saw signs of impairment.
