MERRIMACK, NH — Andrew Pitten has been named as the fourth top student in Merrimack High School's graduating Class of 2019. Throughout his years in high schools, he cultivated an interest in a wide range of disciplines and participated in many extracurricular activities. Next year, he plans to attend Boston College to study economics, in hopes to pursue a career in the financial sector.

Pitten said his supportive family emphasized the importance of education, which led him to partake in numerous academic pursuits. Among them was Science Olympiad. As captain, Pitten won several medals from competitions such as those at MIT, Harvard and Dartmouth. In addition to natural sciences, Pitten has grown a liking to social sciences and humanities.

Outside the classroom, Pitten likes to stay active by playing basketball and tennis.
