Merrimack Man Charged with Domestic Assault

A Merrimack man is facing domestic violence charges after he reportedly assaulted a woman on Sunday.

Joseph Patrick Gardner, 28, of 28 Peter Road are charged with two counts of domestic simple assault.

Around 9 a.m. on Sunday, Merrimack Police responded to Peter Road for a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman. While en route, police were advised that both people had left in a black Ford Explorer. Police searched the area but were unable to locate them. 

Witnesses on scene who were familiar with the two people reported that the man had assaulted the woman. Around 11 a.m., both came to the station and Gardner was arrested on the 12-hour domestic law and processed. Bail was set at $350 cash and $5,000 personal recognizance.

Gardner was scheduled to appear in Merrimack District Court on Monday to answer to the charges.
