Merrimack Woman Named Finance Chief for NH University System
Catherine Provencher will take over her new duties on March 31.

The University System Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the selection of State Treasurer Catherine Provencher to serve as next Vice Chancellor for Finance and Treasurer of USNH.
"After conducting a lengthy national search to ensure the best possible candidate for the Finance and Treasurer position at the University System of New Hampshire, we were extremely fortunate to have the ideal candidate right here in the Granite State. State Treasurer Cathy Provencher has established a strong reputation for sound fiscal management and helping guide the state through turbulent and challenging budget times.” stated Chancellor Todd Leach.
“Her understanding of the budget process, the significance of getting the most out of limited taxpayers dollars and her deep commitment to the people of New Hampshire make her the ideal person to assume the Finance and Treasurer position. Cathy will be instrumental in helping to preserve what has been a history of prudent stewardship of financial resources at the University System," concluded Board Chair Pamela Diamantis.
“It has been my honor and privilege to serve our State as its Treasurer for the past seven years. I now look forward to putting my skills to work for the benefit the University System,” said Cathy Provencher. “I am energized by the possibilities that lie ahead and am confident I will be of value as the System seeks ways to innovate and map out a path for the future of higher education in our State.”
As Vice Chancellor for Finance and Treasurer Provencher will be responsible for overseeing overall budgets of the University System, maintaining sound standing with bond rating agencies, and helping to ensure continued prudent management of financial resources in ways that assist USNH institutions to maximize benefits to students and the state.
Active in her community, Provencher lives in Merrimack with her husband. They have two children who are both in college. She will takeover her new duties on March 31, 2014.
