Motorists Asked to Heed New Traffic Rule on Baboosic Lake Road
An update on traffic pattern changes near three of Merrimack's schools.

A new traffic control sign has been installed at the intersection of Baboosic Lake Road and Church St. This new traffic control prohibits blocking the intersection for westbound traffic on Baboosic Lake Road when traffic stops for turning traffic onto McElwain Street.
Merrimack police officers will be conducting a directed patrols in the area advising motorists to keep the intersection clear, allowing Church Street traffic to exit into Baboosic Lake Road.
The traffic patterns on Baboosic Lake Road have been under review and adjustment since crossing guard Art Ducharme was struck by a car while directing morning school traffic on Oct. 28.
Parents dropping off their children at school are now doing so through traffic loop set up in the Our Lady of Mercy parking lot, accessed near the top of McElwain Street. School Street, which police say backs up with traffic that spills onto Baboosic Lake Road – the traffic scenario that contributed to Ducharme being it – is now reserved for buses only.
