Careers in aviation technology are in high demand, and Nashua Community College has a two-year, FAA-approved training right here in Nashua. Check it out at Express Admissions night on Tuesday, July 26 from 4:30 – 6:30 PM. Meet alumni and industry partners including Wiggins Airways, explore the program, and sign up for a spot in Aviation Technology this fall. Prospective students can also enter a raffle to win $100 book vouchers.

“The Aviation Technology express admissions event is a great way to find out how the degree can prepare you for a future as an aviation technician,” said Mackenzie Murphy, enrollment specialist at NCC, and one of the event organizers. “College faculty, staff, and alumni will be here on July 26 to answer your questions, and share more information about the degree and local work opportunities for after graduation.”

The Aviation Technology degree program prepares students for professional careers in aviation maintenance. Graduates get the skills they need to seek employment with airlines, fixed base operators, or aircraft manufacturers.

“We’re very pleased to provide this crucial training to students,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs, Robyn Griswold. “Not only does it fill a critical need in the industry, but the Aviation Technology degree is a great way for students to access a lifelong career pathway right here in New Hampshire.”

About the Curriculum

The degree pathway place major emphasis on the study of actual aircraft, structures, and powerplants and related systems. The 21-month curriculum includes one summer session and covers a wide variety of subjects concerned with airplanes: reciprocating engines, turbines, fuel systems, propellers, ignition, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems.

This fall, the program will be enhanced by new equipment, as NCC has invested more than half a million dollars in new avionics and training aids to provide instruction aligned with current industry standards. Students will be able to take field trips to local businesses, including Wiggins and Prostar at the Manchester Airport

Nashua Community College is the only FAA-approved training facility in New Hampshire. Successful completion of the Aviation Technology degree is designed to prepare graduates to pass the FAA airframe and powerplant certification examination.

Industry partners and financial assistance

Faculty and college leadership work with industry partners to strengthen career pathways for students. Currently, there is a high need for skilled workers in the region. Through these partnerships, students have a variety of options for scholarships to offset tuition.

Students from outside New Hampshire are also eligible for in-state tuition rates for Aviation Technology, and the rest of the programs within the Industry and Transportation Department: Honda, Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, and the new Automotive Technology-Mazda pathway.
