NH Teacher Of The Year Announced

BELMONT, NH -- New Hampshire's Teacher of the Year was unveiled Wednesday. Keith Noyes, a Belmont Middle School fifth-grade teacher, was presented with the award during a ceremony at the school. Noyes is now a candidate for National Teacher of the Year.

Noyes is a role model for students and teachers, according to Belmont Middle School Principal Aaron Pope.

"(Noyes) leads by setting positive examples and is always willing to help out when needed," Pope said during Wednesday's ceremony. "His ability to thrive in any situation and put students first are among his finest qualities."

Noyes has been a teacher for 19 years and has spent the last six years at Belmont Middle.

"This honor recognizes Noyes’ exemplary leadership abilities, professional growth and achievement, and total commitment to excellence in education," New Hampshire Department of Education Commissioner Frankl Edelblut said. "Noyes will serve as a leader and ambassador for all the outstanding teachers devoted to the highest level of student learning in their classrooms.”

There were five finalists in the award selection process. The four teachers were:

• Aaron Blais, Exeter High School
• Lori Christerson, Bishop Brady High School, Concord
• Alice Donahoe, James Mastricola Elementary, Merrimack
• Allison Leach, Spaulding High School, Rochester

"New Hampshire citizens would be proud of these teachers who have clearly mastered their practice of educating our students," DOE Deputy Commissioner Christine Brennan said in a statement.
