• Merrimack resident proposes mushrooms as PFAS solution (unionleader.com) — A young Merrimack environmental advocate is launching a first-of-its-kind mushroom-based pilot project to help clean PFAS contamination tied to the former Saint-Gobain plant in town. Working with state officials and local leaders, she hopes to test white-rot fungi on or near the demolished facility site, potentially turning Merrimack’s pollution crisis into a model of community-driven remediation.
   

• Federal legislation would recognize cancer work hazard for firefighters (wmur.com) — A Merrimack Fire Department lieutenant is helping drive federal legislation that would recognize certain cancers as line-of-duty for firefighters, expanding benefits for affected families. His advocacy, rooted in his wife’s death from occupational lung cancer, builds on New Hampshire’s own presumptive cancer law and could bring stronger protections and screenings for firefighters statewide.
