Patch Wants Pics of Your Best (or Worst!) Carved Pumpkins

And a library facelift, help needed at the Humane Society and sound off on a story making national headlines.

Library facelift. A little elbow grease and a few coats of paint and the Merrimack Public Library has a whole new look at the Circulation Desk. Have you seen the new look in person? We think it looks pretty fantastic. Don't have a library card? It's easy to get one and the library is so much more than just books. It's books and movies, free music downloads and free community events and much more. Find out how to get your library card here.

Show us your gourds. Patch is seeking local pumpkin artistes! Show off your glorious gourds (or hysterical pumpkin fails) for upcoming feature. Email name, hometown and picture as jpeg to kathleen@patch.com.

Kitten food needed. The Humane Society for Greater Nashua is on kitten overload – more than 80 kittens are currently in foster care, and supplies of Iams canned kitten food is dwindling. They are seeking the public's help – asking if you can donate some cans, or go online and order some to be shipped via their Amazon kitten wish list, which also includes kitty litter, kitten formula, toys and treats. Contact the Humane Society with questions.

Sound off. This story has been making national headlines over the last couple days and Patch wants to know, what you think. A student at North Andover High School in Massachusetts was demoted from her captainship on the volleyball team and suspend her from five games for getting summonsed at an underage drinking party where she says she had arrived moments before police to pick up a drunk friend. NAHS has a no tolerance policy for student-athletes and parties where drugs and alcohol are being used, but if the teen wasn't drinking and hadn't even been present partying, but rather was there to help a friend in trouble, should NAHS make an exception to the policy used to punish her? Read the story on North Andover Patch, and sound off in the comments.
