Photo of the Week: A Mother's Day Guest

Swan Chocolates and the Merrimack Fire Department had a special Mother'ssnapping turtle apparently climbed out of the river or the swampy area behind the fire station and decided to spend some time sunning itself on the warm blacktop parking lot.

The photos above were snapped by, on the left, Lauren Henderson, an employee of Swan Chocolates, and Merrimack resident Ellen Kolb, who was visiting the sweet shop as the turtle made its way across the fire station parking lot.

Merrimack's wildlife sure seems to be enjoying its special place on Merrimack Patch, lately. Check out some of our recent photo of the week features that depict numerous other animals including a rarely seen type of duck, a family of ducks, a bear, a fischer cat, a couple of bald eagles perched in a tree and we've even got a video of a couple bear cubs wrestling in a backyard recently.
