Police: Man Stole Wallet From Woman's Purse

A teen was charged with possession of marijuana

A Merrimack man was arrested Friday on one count of theft by unauthorized taking for, police say, stealing a wallet from a woman's purse at a Daniel Webster Highway business.

John Rice, 44, of 1 Vanden Road, Merrimack, was arrested on a warrant that stemmed from a Sept. 17 complaint from a local business owner that her wallet and an undetermined amount of cash had been stolen from her purse while she was distracted while working at her business.

Rice was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and ordered to appear in court on Feb. 5, to answer to the charge.

Also arrested over the weekend was:

Nicholas Marre, 18, of 11 East Ridge Road, Merrimack, on a charge of possession of marijuana.

Police say they saw a truck pull down by the Merrimack Village District pump house on Berry Lane – an area posted no trespassing – at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday.

The officer spoke to the occupants of the truck and found Marre in possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was released on $750 personal recognizance  bail and ordered to appear in Merrimack's District Court on Feb. 5 to answer to the charge.
