Police: Merrimack Man Lied on Gun Application

The following arrest information was provided by the Merrimack Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Merrimack man was arrested Saturday for allegedly lying on his application to purchase a firearm at a local gun shop.

James Turnquist, 23, of 30 London Court, Merrimack, turned himself in to police on Jan. 5 on  a warrant for a charge of unsworn falsification.

Police say Turnquist attempted to buy a gun from a local shop and on his application indicated that he had not had a restraining order filed against him, which was later determined to be untrue.

Unsworn falsification is a misdemeanor punishable by a up to a year in jail and up to $2,000 in fines.

Turnquist was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail. Turnquist was ordered to appear in the 9th Circuit District Division Court in Merrimack on Jan. 22.

Also arrested recently were:

Christan Pelletier, 26, of 21 Townline Road, Groton, Mass., on a charge of giving a false report to law enforcement. Police say Pelletier on Aug. 19 accused a family member of committing a crime against another family member. Throughout the course of the investigation, police say they determined that the information Pelletier provided was false. She was released on $2,000 person personal recognizance bail. She is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit District Division Court in Merrimack on Jan. 22.

Dennis Lamarche, 51, of 93 Belmont Drive, Merrimack, was arrested for disobeying a police officer on Friday, Jan. 4. Police say at approximately 5:37 p.m. they attempted to pull Lamarche over on Belmont Driver for a motor vehicle infraction. Lamarche refused to roll his window down or get out of his  and drove away from the officer, police say. Police were able to successfully pull him over a second time and he was taken in to custody. Lamarche was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit District Division Court in Merrimack on Jan. 22.

A 16-year-old who's identity was witheld due to age, was arrested on Jan. 5 when police stopped the car he was riding in for a motor vehicle infraction. Police say when they stopped the 2004 Hyundai Elantra on Bedford Road, they could smell the odor of burnt marijuana from within the vehicle. The passenger in the car was found in possession of the drug and was arrested for possession of a controlled drug – marijuana. He was released to the custody of a parent and will appear in juvenile court at a later date.
