Police: Woman Arrested For Fake Theft Report

A Merrimack woman who police say lied about a theft at her home turned herself in on Friday.

Amy Caissie, 55, of 26 Four Seasons Lane, Merrimack, was charged on a warrant for making a false report to law enforcement.

Merrimack Police say the warrant stemmed from an investigation that started on Nov. 29 when  Caissie reported to police that some of her tools were stolen from her home.

The case was forwarded to the Detective Bureau where they investigated the case further. During the course of the investigation it was found that the tools were not stolen and Caissie fabricated the story, police say.

Caissie was released on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and she was ordered to appear in Merrimack's district court on Jan. 15 to answer to the charge.
