Re-Elect Ortega and Barnes to School Board

To the Editor:

I’d like to invite Merrimack voters to join me in supporting Chris Ortega and Shannon Barnes for re-election to the Merrimack School Board this coming Tuesday, April 9.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with both Chris and Shannon for several years, initially through my role on the School Budget Committee, and most recently along with them as members of the School Board. They both bring a very collaborative approach to addressing the issues that are in front of the board. They look at all dimensions of each topic, they evaluate the various impacts and benefits, and they clearly state their reasoning for the final position they reach.

Chris and Shannon are highly approachable and very responsive, and always have the best interests of taxpayers, students, teachers and the district as a whole in mind. I know that, as a member of the board, we don’t always agree on every topic that comes before us. But I can always count on them to be open-minded during our deliberations, and believe that this approach encourages the type of open and fruitful discussion that’s critical for addressing the topics that come before the board. I look forward to them being able to come back and serve a second term on the board, so that we can continue this collaborative approach into the coming year, and beyond.
