Town Clerk Clears Up Voter ID Confusion

Diane Trippett explains what voters need to know about showing their ID on Election Day.

Town Clerk/Tax Collector Diane Trippett is reaching out to voters to allay confusion about what New Hampshire's voter ID law means for residents during the election on Nov. 6.

Trippett sent the following message to Merrimack Patch via email Tuesday. Please take note as you get ready to cast your ballot on Tuesday. The more prepared you are, the faster you'll get through the polls on what is sure to be a well-attended election.

"There is conflicting information being reported about Voter ID for next Tuesday’s Election Day. A recent superior court decision blocked new voter registration requirements; however, the requirement for voters to show ID is in effect. A voter who does not possess a valid ID may vote on Nov. 6, if they execute an affidavit or have their identity verified by the moderator, clerk, or supervisor of the checklist.  Voters may contact the Town Clerk's office at with any questions."
