Weekend Planner: Celebrate Latino Culture & Classic Cars!

You KNOW Patch has found some good times happening in NH this weekend.

1. Celebrate Latino-style! The 14th Latino Festival of NH is coming to Veterans Park in Manchester on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 11:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Latino Festival is now a major attraction in New Hampshire drawing audiences of up to 10,000 each year and growing. Not only does the Festival attract Latinos from throughout New Hampshire, it draws Latinos from Massachusetts as well as members of the broader community from throughout New England and beyond. The Festival includes live music and dancing from several Latin American countries, ethnic foods and arts and crafts among other events. Proceeds from the Festival benefit the Latinos Unidos Scholarship Fund. The Fund awards educational scholarships to deserving Latino youth pursuing post-secondary education. This is a free event.

2. Music! The NH Music Festival is coming to the Capitol Center for the Arts onFriday, Aug. 16 from 8-10:30 p.m. The festival will show the full grandeur of classical music under the baton of Music Director Donato Cabrera. They are celebrating their 61st season and will perform two concerts.

3. Play ball! Don't forget to register for this weekend's Sgt. Ed Pane Wiffle Ball Tournament at the American Legion on Baboosic Lake Road. The tournament, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, is a fundraiser for Sgt. Pane who was diagnosed in recent years with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Registration for teams of anywhere between one and five players costs $100 per team. 4. Classic automobiles! The Amherst Lions Club will host their Third Annual Antique Auto Show this Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Walmart parking lot from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This unique show will showcase classic and antique cars alongside tractors and trucks. The show is free to spectators, but donations are accepted. Vehicles can be entered in multiple categories, including Best Tractor, Best Corvette, Oldest and Best of Show. An award ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. for winners in each category. Food will be available from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jake's Ice Cream will also be on hand for cold, tasty treats. Money raised will be used towards community charities and causes.

5. Pork! The 4th Annual East Concord Pork Festival is coming to the Grace Episcopal Church on Concord on Sunday, Aug. 18, from 12-3 p.m. Bring your family and friends to this year's fourth annual East Concord Pork Festival at Grace Episcopal Church in East Concord. Enjoy a delicious meal of roast pork, hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad and tasty desserts. Food sponsored by the Quality Cash Market. Lots of family fun, and live music by Balladeer, Jim Barnes who is sponsored by NE Propane Distributors. This event is free to the public but donations are welcomed. Proceeds go towards our Take-A-Tote ministry to feed Concord’s hungry schoolchildren. This is a free event.
