What Kind of Music is Merrimack Listening To?

Pop and country top recent downloads in town.

The Merrimack Public Library is not just books, as you likely know.

DVDs and CDs, eReaders, telescopes even, and more can be pulled from the library's collection on a daily basis with a library card, but did you also know you can download music for free each week? And keep it?

Earlier this year, Merrimack Public Library began offering card holders a program called Freegal that allows patrons to download up to three free songs every week. Not only can you download and listen, but unlike most library items, you don't have to return them.

Freegal uses the Sony catalog and allows users to browse a wide range of music from current favorites like Justin Timberlake and Carrie Underwood, to world music to classical.

Available to check out when you sign in using your library card, is the ability to check what's in your library's Top 10 downloads.

Here's a look at what people in Merrimack are downloading, as of Aug. 9:

1. Brave by Sara Bareilles
2. We Can't Stop by Miley Cyrus
3. Best Song Ever by One Direction
4. Ooh La La by Britney Spears
5. People Like Us by Kelly Clarkson
6. Best I Ever Had by Gavin DeGraw
7. Mirrors by Justin Timberlake
8. Summer Jam (featuring Florida Georgia Line) by Jake Owen
9. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood
10. Do It All Again by Emblem3
