What's at the Library: May 13-17
A look at the upcoming events at Merrimack Public Library.

Each week there are a number of free community activities at the Merrimack Public Library for residents of all ages. From book groups and story times to special evening presentations and opportunities to brush up on reading skills. Online registration for activities is available at MerrimackLibrary.org. You can also register in person or by phone at 424-5021. Adult library card needed to register for activities.

Monday, May 13
6:30 PM Advanced Beginners Book Group
Find out what's happening in Merrimackfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
The Advanced Beginners' Book Group is for children ages 6-8. This group will read short chapter books that bridge the gap between the Beginner Book Group's picture books and the Family Books Group's longer books.
Registration is required. This program is open to Merrimack Library cardholders.

Tuesday, May 14
4 p.m. Cookies with the Cops: an Officer Meet and Greet
Officers from the Merrimack Police Department will be visiting for this special children's program, taking place on National Police Week! Children ages 5+ will get to meet the officers, ask them questions and enjoy some police books. Children will also get to see the new Merrimack police squad cars up close and personal - as well as a visit from Gunny, the police dog for our Merrimack K-9 squad. Please register for this event with an adult Merrimack library card.
7 p.m. Writer's Group
Inspired by our NaNoWriMo participants, we have formed a new monthly meeting for adult writers. New and experienced writers are invited to share their work and give feedback to others. Registration helpful but not required.
Wednesday, May 15
7 p.m. Monthly Book Discussion
The last in a four-part series themed "Spy Stories".
This month's book is Intelligence by Susan Hasler. Maddie James and her colleagues are terrorism experts trying to prevent an impending terrorist attack. They are thwarted by bureaucratic hurdles in this darkly humorous debut written by a former CIA agent
Extra copies of the book are available to borrow during the four weeks prior to this date. The discussion is open to adults and teens; registration is helpful but not required.
Thursday, May 16
3:30 p.m. Teen Writers Group
Do you like to write? Do you like to listen to stories? Would you like to learn about story craft, share your poetry, or just have fun using your imagination? Then join our Teen Writers Group! Come ready to read or just stop in to relax and listen.
On the first Thursday of the month we'll meet in the Klumpp Meeting Room and on the third Thursday of the month we'll meet at the table in the Teen Area on the main level.
This group is open to Merrimack residents in grades 6-12. Registration is helpful for planning purposes but not required.
Friday, May 17
10 a.m. Community CPR Class with the Merrimack Fire Department

3:30 p.m. Wii Game Day
Join us on the 3rd Friday of the month for tournament-Style play with games like Mario Super Sluggers, Mario Kart, SSB Brawl, Madden 13, and more! When you're not playing you can enjoy snacks or other board games. For planning purposes please register. For ages 8-teen. Register up to a month ahead using an adult Merrimack Library card.
