Race night.
Thursday night was the 21st annual Cigna/Elliot Corportate 5k in Manchester – a night when thousands of runners and walkers hit the streets many representing the company they work for. For the second year in a row, Patch was represented by a small contingent of participants including Bedford Patch Editor Ryan O'Connor, Concord Patch Editor Tony Schinella, Merrimack Patch Editor Carolyn Dube and Associate Regional Editor for NH Patch Dan Tuohy. The winner of the race, Aschalew Meketa, 25, of New York, NY, completed the city course in 14:02. The first female finisher was Tufa Tigist, 26, of Bronx, NY. Read for wishes.
The Friends of the Merrimack Public Library are prepared to make a donation to the High Hopes Foundation, which grants wishes to critically ill children, when the summer reading goal of 4,000 hours is hit. As of Wednesday, the tally was up to 3,000 hours. Encourage your kids to keep reading and help ratchet up those last 1,000 hours.
