With Latest Collection MPD has Taken in 1,000 lbs of Rx Drugs

A new drug drop box is available in the Merrimack Police lobby starting May 1.

With the latest drug takeback collection held in Merrimack on Saturday, police in town have now collected more than 1,000 pounds of unused prescription drugs.

The April 27 collection took in 240 pounds of prescription pills to put the collection over that milestone.

The drug take back day was part of a national effort sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Merrimack Police and Merrimack Safeguard.

The police department would like to thank all of those who participated in this important program.

With the completion of the latest drug take back the Merrimack Police Department has also become home to a permanently attached drug box that will be in operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week starting May 1. This box is in lobby of the station and people can now dispose of their unwanted prescriptions at their convenience, no questions asked.
