Young Burn Victim Flown From Merrimack By DHART To Boston Hospital

A very young child had burns to his arm and back after falling into a fire on Mayhew Road. The child was conscious, breathing, and stable.

MERRIMACK, NH — Merrimack Fire and police responded to a report of a person who was burned outside a Mayhew Road residence Sunday.

While responding to the scene, Merrimack Fire checked on the availability of the DHART Medical helicopter. Dispatch updated responders that a young child had fallen into a fire and had burns.

Firefighters arrived and found a young boy with injuries from the fire that were described as on his arm and back and covered approximately 20 percent of his body.

Based on the updates on the child’s medical condition DHART was requested to land at Bishop Field, where firefighters and police secured the area. DHART landed within 15 minutes and awaited the arrival of the child being transported by Merrimack Fire Rescue.

The child was transferred to the helicopter and flown to Massachusetts General Hospital in what was described as being in stable condition.
