14 Year-Old Girl Accused Of Driving Stolen Car Leading Cops On A Chase

RINDGE, NH — A juvenile is accused of driving a stolen car from Manchester after Rindge police stopped her for speeding, which resulted in multiple charges on Saturday.

Police conducted a traffic stop on Route 119 westbound near Mark Street on a red Hyundai Elantra traveling 65 mph in the posted 40 mph zone. The operator was identified as a 14-year-old girl from Manchester. Four unidentified occupants fled the vehicle on foot during the traffic stop; however, a female juvenile passenger remained in the car.

After police checked the vehicle information in the system, they determined that the Hyundai had been reported stolen from Manchester. The teen driver fled from the scene at a high rate of speed, according to Rindge police.

Police attempted to follow the fleeing vehicle, observing the erratic operation. The car turned onto Route 202 southbound and then onto Perkins Road. Police located the vehicle that crashed into the tree line on Perkins Road; the driver and passenger had minor injuries and were taken to Monadnock Community Hospital for evaluation.

Upon being released from medical care, the 14-year-old driver was taken into police custody and transported back to the Rindge Police Department. There, she was charged with multiple offenses, including receiving stolen property, operating without a valid license, disobeying an officer (2 counts), resisting arrest/detention, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and speed. She was later released to the custody of a parent.

Rindge police were assisted on the scene by Rindge Fire and Rescue, Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, Winchendon Ambulance, Jaffrey Police, and New Hampshire State Police. Manchester Police, Gauthier's Towing, NH Probation and Parole, and the Division of Children, Youth, and Families Services provided additional assistance.

At this time, the investigation is ongoing. Attempts are being made to identify other involved parties, and additional charges are likely pending investigation.
