3. BUY A BRICK, BEAUTIFY A PARK: From the Milford Town Website:
"Several years ago, Milford Recreation worked with the Milford High School Building and Trades program to replace the pavilion at Keyes Park. This year, we’re excited to start work to enhance the pavilion with a pergola, brick patio, picnic tables and landscaping.
How can you help? Buy a brick! For a small donation of $50.00, you can purchase an engraved brick to be included in the project’s brick patio area. What a great way to show your support or to recognize someone with a brick gift. Local businesses and clubs/organizations who want to help with a sponsorship or volunteer to assist with landscaping please call Milford Recreation at (603) 249-0625 to give back to their community!"
The deadline to order your brick is Oct. 31. Visit here to find the application.
4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: The modern United States receives its crowning star when President Dwight D. Eisenhower signs a proclamation admitting Hawaii into the Union as the 50th state. The president also issued an order for an American flag featuring 50 stars arranged in staggered rows: five six-star rows and four five-star rows. The new flag became official July 4, 1960.
